The move from Tennessee to Columbus, Georgia, in the fall of 2015 was difficult for Emily Holmes. Arriving one week before school started, she toured high schools, but after walking through the halls of Northside High School, Holmes had a feeling it was the place for her.
Back then, Holmes was a freshman, and while all freshmen are new to a school, she didn’t know anyone or have a connection to anything. That is until a teacher asked students to tell what they liked to do.
