Darian Ingram VS Cassidy McLellan: Who Do You Pick?
On June 8, Trenton Tigers softball pitcher and Florida Atlantic University commit Darian Ingram added yet another honor to her already stellar high school resume. She was named the Florida Dairy Famers Miss Softball for 2021 after leading her team to a second-straight state title this season. Ingram received the honor just a week after she was named the Class 1A Player of the Year.
Finishing just behind Ingram in the voting for Miss Softball was Class 7A Player of the Year Cassidy McLellan. The sophomore outfielder plays for Lakewood Ranch High and helped lead the Mustangs to their first state title this past season.
With both players finishing No.1 and No. 2 in the voting for Miss Softball in the state, it poses the question: Which player would you take on your team with the game on the line?
Ingram finished her senior season with a record of 18-1 and threw eight no-hitters along with 232 strikeouts. McLellan, on the other hand, batted .542 with nine home runs, 15 doubles and 6 triples this past season, according to an article in the Herald-Tribune.
