Cypress Bay High School Lacrosse Player Andrew Lewis Named ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month for April 2024
Cypress Bay High School junior lacrosse player Andrew Lewis has been voted the ITG Next Florida Male Athlete of the Month for April 2024, which comes as a result of his on-field play in March. Lewis also received an overwhelming 80.31% of possible votes to receive the honor over a list of three additional finalists that included Bishop Verot baseball player Joey Lawson, South Broward baseball player Keniel Marrero, and Westminster Christian baseball player Manny Marin.
One of Florida’s top goal scorers this season, Lewis helped lead the Lightning to a stellar March, one that included a combined 7-2 record and a seven-game winning streak.
Across eight games, Lewis posted a combined stat line of 47 goals and five assists to lead Cypress Bay, which translated to 52 points total. This stretch also featured a pair of double-digit point performances in which he had 10 total during victories over Pompano Beach and South Plantation on March 8 and March 20, respectively.
Those two contests also included the monthly highs for Lewis, as his nine-goal showing in the 23-7 win over Pompano Beach and his two assists in an 18-6 victory over South Plantation were his best of the month.
For the season, Cypress Bay owns an 11-3 record, with Lewis playing a big part in the Lightning’s success.
Across 13 games this year, Lewis ranked among Florida’s leading goal scorers as previously mentioned, scoring 76 total to translate to an average of 5.8 goals per game. Lewis also has 19 assists on the season, as well as 95 points total to translate to averages of 1.5 and 7.3 per game, respectively.
Taking a deeper look, Lewis had at least five goals in all but one of those 13 games and had four contests of double-digit points. Those came in victories over Cooper City, West Broward, Pompano Beach, and South Plantation, two of which happened during March.
