We tell you everything you need to know about the 2024 Creekside High School football team in this preview, including roster changes and what fans can expect from the Knights this season.
2023 Stats
- Overall Record: 6-5
- Points Scored: 367
- Points Allowed: 365
Key Losses
The Knights look to replace three offensive linemen who have graduated: offensive tackles Joe Bartles and Aiden Bringman, along with Austin Eakin, who played guard and tackle.
Other key players not returning are outside linebacker Brody McGouth, who finished with 100 career tackles as a Knight; wide receiver Ashton Reynolds, who is headed to Stetson University; and defensive end Cole Long, who takes his talents to the Navy.
Who’s Back
Senior quarterback Sean Ashenfelder returns to Creekside for the 2024 season.
“Sean is a dual-threat QB who is very experienced back there, and he has a great arm,” said head coach Sean McIntyre.
Ashenfelder is committed to Rutgers.
Harrison Garrido, who was an H-back for the Knights last year, will move to running back for his senior season.
Offensive tackle Cole Alexander is a three-year returning starter who is committed to the Air Force.
Senior Tyce Donnelly returns at edge rusher.
Jaxon Earle returns at defensive back.
Two-way threat Nico Weiss has transferred in from Trinity Christian.
What to Expect
The Knights have made the playoffs the past four seasons, but McIntyre said their 2024 schedule will be a tough one to navigate if Creekside is going to make a fifth straight postseason appearance.
“We have eight playoff teams on the schedule this year,” McIntyre said. “We better buckle up.”
McIntyre said his team’s strength will be its experience.
“We have a large senior class with over 30 kids, so I feel good about that,” he said.
As far as concerns, other than that daunting schedule, the Creekside head man said replacing the three starters on the offensive line will be a priority.
Prediction
I think they make it a fifth straight playoff season and finish 7-5 in 2024.
