Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School Girls Basketball Player Jaelynn Housey Named ITG Next Florida Female Athlete of the Month for December 2022

Chaminade-Madonna girls basketball player Jaelynn Housey has been voted the ITG Next Florida Female Athlete of the Month for December 2022 her play during November, receiving 60.18% of the possible votes.

Off to a strong start to the year, Housey’s 2022-23 freshman season is shaping up to be a memorable one for the Chaminade-Madonna guard.

Across her first nine games of the season, Housey is averaging 20.1 PPG for the Lions, along with 7.1 RPG, 4 APG, and 5.6 SPG. Of those nine games, the freshman scored in double digits in all but one and has posted 20-plus points in four games.

“Jaelynn has a strong impact on the game,” Chaminade-Madonna girls basketball coach Yolanda Jenkins said of Housey. “She is the leading scorer. She leads in assists and steals. When it’s time, she takes over the game and becomes a great leader on the court.”

As for November in particular, Housey averaged 22.8 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 3.8 APG, and 6.2 SPG across five games for the Lions, with no performance bigger for the freshman than her showing in Chaminade-Madonna’s season-opening win over Calvary Christian Academy. In that game, Housey posted a season high 30 points, along with season highs in both assists and steals.

Speaking of those five games, three of them were also 20-plus point performances, which were also the freshman’s first three matchups of the season against Calvary Christian Academy, Mater Lakes Academy, and Bradwell Institute (GA).

“Jaelynn is extremely talented,” Jenkins said. “She can handle the pressure, she is tough, and has a high basketball IQ. She can get to the basket anytime she wants and can shoot from anywhere on the court. She remains with a positive fighting attitude. She is coachable.”

A 2026 prospect who is certainly making her mark on the state’s basketball scene so far this year, congratulations to Chaminade-Madonna’s Jaelynn Housey, the ITG Next Florida Female Athlete of the Month for December 2022.
