The Devil’s had another great season that just came up short of playing for a state title again. For the last two years, Clay High School lost in the final four of the playoffs against Ponte Verde. The school went 10-4 again this year.
Head Coach John Hoekstra explains that the team is just as strong this year. The players returning for Clay is their strength next season. Players like left tackle Jason Brooks and quarterback Kaleb Eason will play huge roles. Also, the team has their running and kicker back as well. Coach Hoekstra also points out his secondary is a strength for his football team next season.
This offseason the Devils have worked on a lot of game type situations like red zone and two minute offense. Clay needs to be ready for anything coming their way because of the new playoff structure. The two big games for clay this season is Bartram Trail week 3 and defending state champion University Christian week 11.
