From Week 11 – the final week of the 2023 Florida high school regular season – let’s take a look at some of the state’s top performers.
QB Anthony Barbar (Westminster Academy)
Barbar completed 7-of-10 passes for 181 yards and 4 touchdowns, and he also rushed for a 2-yard score in Westminster Academy’s 41-20 win over NSU University in the SSAA state semifinals.
QB Battle Alberson (Gulf Breeze)
Alberson completed 26-of-39 passes for 327 yards and 4 touchdowns in Gulf Breeze’s 35-32 loss to West Florida. The senior also enjoyed a big game on the ground by rushing for 145 yards and a touchdown on 19 attempts.
QB Jeff Jones (St. Petersburg)
Jones completed 7-of-9 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 254 yards and 2 more scores on 19 attempts, in St. Petersburg’s 27-14 win over Gibbs.
QB Jackson LaTour (Oviedo)
LaTour completed 21-of-29 passes for 304 yards and 4 touchdowns, while also rushing for 14 yards on 5 attempts, in Oviedo’s 48-14 win over Hagerty.
QB Ennio Yapoor (Norland)
Yapoor completed 12-of-15 passes for 340 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also rushing for 23 yards and a score on 3 attempts, in Norland’s 54-0 shutout win over Killian.
QB Luke Knight (Wiregrass Ranch)
Knight completed 24-of-33 passes for 309 yards with 3 touchdowns in Wiregrass Ranch’s 55-14 win over The Villages Charter.
RB Antonio Muniz (Gulf)
Muniz earned his spot as one of the top players in Florida high school Week 11 by rushing for 160 yards and 5 touchdowns on 23 attempts in Gulf’s 72-59 loss to Nature Coast Tech.
RB Chris Wheatley-Humphrey (South Broward)
The senior rushed for 260 yards and a touchdown on 20 attempts in South Broward’s 53-18 loss to Miramar.
WR Jeremiah Smith (Chaminade-Madonna)
Smith had 7 receptions for 189 yards and 2 touchdowns in Chaminade-Madonna’s 57-0 win over Lakewood.
WR Dwayne Wimbley Jr. (Westminster Academy)
Wimbley had 6 receptions for 124 yards and 3 touchdowns, as well as 4 tackles on the defensive side of the ball, in Westminster Academy’s 41-20 win over NSU University.
WR Lashawn Williams (Eustis)
Williams did a bit of everything in getting recognition as one of the top players in Florida high school Week 11. In Eustis’ 32-28 win over Merritt Island, Williams totaled 9 receptions for 62 yards and 3 touchdowns, and he rushed for 52 yards on 6 attempts. The senior also returned a kickoff for 97 yards.
DE Gavench Marcelin (Belen Jesuit)
Marcelin had 4 tackles, 4 TFL, 3 sacks, and 1 PD in the Wolverines’ 24-0 win over LaSalle.
LB Jonathan Ward Jr. (South Broward)
Ward had 14 tackles and 3 TFL in South Broward’s 53-18 loss to Miramar.
