Around the World in 80 Days

The next time you see a man on a bike be sure to take a second look because you might be watching history in the making. Mark Beaumont’s quest to cycle around the world in 80 days begins on July 2nd. The 34-year-old Scot already set the record in 194 days and 17 hours back in 2008. However, Zealander Andrew Nicholas, broke his record in 2015 by finishing in 123 days. Despite the difficulty of this task, the cyclist has spent years training and planning for this next attempt. Beaumont strategy is to begin his journey in Paris, where he will cycle 18,000 miles through 14 countries over four stages. Sounds easy, right? He told CNN reporter Matt Majendie, “This is physically and mentally possible.” Mark Beaumont’s determination and positivity definitely represents what it means to live in the game.
