After a stellar month of October on the field, Jacksonville quarterback Jim Ogle has been voted the ITG Next Alabama Male Athlete of the Month for November 2023. Ogle received 53.58% of the possible votes over three additional nominees: Elba running back Alvin Henderson, Mary G. Montgomery quarterback Jared Hollins, and Lamar County running back Jordan Godsey.
Ogle, a senior three-star Troy commit, helped lead Class 4A Jacksonville to a 3-0 record in October, when the Golden Eagles outscored opponents a 183-28.
His heroics began on October 6 against Cleburne County. In the Golden Eagles’ 63-14 victory, Ogle completed 9-of-12 passes for 210 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also enjoying one of his top rushing performances of the year, amassing 61 yards and a TD on 4 carries.
Following that performance was another impressive showing in a 58-14 win over Munford, when Ogle completed 17-of-21 passes for 335 yards and 5 touchdowns. After a bye week, he completed 12-of-16 passes for 254 yards and 5 more TDs to help Jacksonville close out the month with a 62-0 shutout of White Plains. He also gained 20 yards on 1 carry in that contest.
For the month overall, Ogle completed 38-of-49 passes (77.6 CMP%) for 799 yards and a 12:0 TD:INT ratio. His 200+ yards passing in each of those games was accompanied by 84 yards rushing and a touchdown on just 7 attempts during that span.
The impressive numbers were a constant for Ogle in 2023, as he led the Golden Eagles to a 10-3 overall record and an appearance in the Class 4A state quarterfinals. The Jacksonville offense averaged 41.9 PPG for the year, a more than 5-point increase over its 36.4 average a year ago.
In his first 12 games of the season, Ogle completed 68.8% of his passes (194-of-282) for 2,932 yards and a 42:6 TD:INT ratio, while also rushing for 284 yards and another score on 38 attempts. He had nine games of 200+ passing yards in that span, including a season-high 404 yards and 5 touchdowns in a 45-21 win over Alexandria on September 1.
