Alabama High School Boys Basketball 7A-4A Top 25 – Updated 2.28.22

As we enter the Final Four in Alabama High School Boys Basketball, the 7A-4A Top 25 receives an update full of movement and takeaways entering the final week of the 2021-22 season.

For the first time this season, we have a new No. 1 team from Classes 7A-4A as 7A’s Baker takes over the top spot, while three other teams also enter the top 5. Multiple teams also entered the rankings this week, a majority of which came from Classes 5A and 4A, aside from 7A’s James Clemens and Huntsville with the Jets facing off against Baker in the Final Four.

We have officially reached the Final Four in Alabama High School Boys Basketball for Classes 3A-1A in the AHSAA, while the AISA state playoffs have already concluded. Here is the updated 3A-1A Top 25 entering the final week of the 2021-22 season.

AISA state champions in Pike Liberal Arts, Heritage Christian, and Autauga are all ranked within the top 10 in this week’s update, while others such as Highland Home, Plainview, and Decatur Heritage also rise into the top 10. Five new teams enter the top 25 this week, headlined by Class 3A’s Southside-Selma sitting just outside the top 10 at No. 12.

As the 2021-22 state tournament begins this week in Alabama High School Boys Basketball for Classes 7A-4A, here is a look at the updated Top 25 rankings.

The top three overall remains close, while Class 7A’s Baker also sees a rise into the top five for the first time this season. In addition to that, No. 17 Sparkman saw the biggest rise of the week due to a win over Grissom in the area tournament, which as a result, saw the Tigers take the biggest drop of the week. 

Two new teams also entered the top 25 this week at No.’s 24-25 in 6A’s Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa and 4A’s Westminster Christian.

While the AISA 3A-1A state playoffs are drawing to a close, the AHSAA 3A-1A state playoffs are only beginning. Here is a look at the Alabama High School Boys Basketball 3A-1A Top 25 entering the week.

Pike Liberal Arts held the No. 1 overall ranking entering Saturday’s AISA Final Four matchup with No. 13 Tuscaloosa Academy. However, Pike could potentially lose that top ranking depending on the outcome of that game to anyone within the top five overall. In addition to that takeaway, the bottom half of the top 25 saw changes at almost every spot, a group that features three new teams entering the rankings, headlined by the returning Class 2A’s Section at No. 22.

With the 2022 Alabama High School Baseball season set to begin in the coming weeks, here are our Preseason Top 25 rankings for Classes 7A-4A.

Defending 7A state champion Auburn holds the top spot entering the 2022 season, but defending Class 6A champion Faith Academy is not too far behind the Tigers at No. 2. In addition to those two, defending Class 4A state champion Mobile Christian begins the season sitting just outside the Top 5 at No. 6, while defending Class 5A champion Russellville begins the year at No. 10. Notable runner-up’s from last season such as Hoover and Hartselle also begin the year within the Top 10, while Pike Road and Oneonta are also ranked.

With the 2021-22 playoffs set to begin soon, here is the latest Alabama High School Boys Basketball 3A-1A Top 25 rankings.

Pike Liberal Arts and Autaugaville hold firm to the top two spots this week, while Class 3A’s Winfield sees a rise into the Top 5 after an impressive month of January. Teams such as Autauga and Geneva County also saw notable rises, while teams such as North Sand Mountain and Glenwood saw small drops. 

In addition to this, three new teams entered the Top 25 this week from spots 22-24 in Class 3A’s Hillcrest-Evergreen, 2A’s Central-Coosa County, and AISA 3A’s Lee-Scott.

As we inch closer to the 2021-22 Alabama High School Boys Basketball playoffs, the 7A-4A Top 25 sees a significant shakeup for a few teams as we have entered the new year.

Mountain Brook continues to hold a slight grip on the No. 1 overall ranking over a few other notable teams within the Top 5, a group that includes arguably the most-notable riser of the week in Vestavia Hills. In addition to the Rebels, Cullman and Park Crossing were also significant risers in this week’s update, while three new teams in total entered the Top 25 in Baker, McGill-Toolen, and Austin.

Past the mid-way point of the 2021-22 Alabama High School Boys Basketball season, the 3A-1A Top 25 receives its first update since mid-December, highlighted by a new No. 1 team.

AISA 3A’s Pike Liberal Arts takes over as the new top ranked team in the rankings, as well as Lauderdale County jumping previous No. 1 Midfield for the final spot in the Top 25. In addition to this, McIntosh took the biggest leap of the week as they are now on the verge of the Top 10, while a total of three new teams debuted this week, headlined by Highland Home sitting at No. 12.
