Baker Gators

The Gators of Baker High School are eager to add a fourth straight District 1-1A Title this upcoming season but it will not be easy. Coach Brunson will have to prepare a new quarterback and offensive line. The Gators advanced last year to the semi-finals and their goal is to go all the way for the state crown.

With all the new starters on the offensive side of the ball, they will have to rely heavily on returning runningback Jalen Ciurleo and receiver Kalee Ciurleo. Jalen was the leading rusher last year and brother Kalee the leading receiver. As the offense develops and gels, the Gators will be dependent on their defense initially in the season.

Fortunately with 7 starters returning on defense, experience should be a difference maker. Defensive Linemen Oakley Kimbrel, Tanner Ward, and Chris Raines will head up the defensive front. Right behind them are returning Linebackers Nick Adams, Logan Rickman, and Chris Roller. Taking a leadership role in the secondary is experienced Jamal Day.

Also look for veteran Josh Springle PK to give these guys an advantage in the special team’s game.

Coach Brunson states “our physicality and toughness is the trademark for Gator Football.” We hold our young-men accountable so they will grow and develop into strong people.

Circle September 30th on your calendar for the War on Highway 4. The rivalry game versus Jay High School gives the winner bragging rights all year long.
