Having only 25 players on the roster for this upcoming fall, Coach Rob Armstrong and staff will have to be innovative. Rutherford High School has seen decreasing enrollment these last few years. This has resulted in fewer numbers out for football. Making the playoffs for the 1st time in 13 years hopefully will challenge a few more to take up the sport.
The Rams have another achievement they can be proud of. The Rams Football Team won the Bay County Academic Champions Award with a 3.3 team GPA. As hard as they are working on the field, these guys are also striving hard in the classroom.
Trying to be competitive in their district with such a small squad, Coach Armstrong is working every angle to give his team an advantage. Since only 4 starters return from last year, he knows they will have to be in great condition to play a full game. Many of the better players will have to play both sides of the ball. Veteran players as LB T. Williams, DB EJ Foster, and DB Malik Gibson will be counted on heavily to contribute to the Rams success.
One can definitely say the Rams are making progress as scholars and athletes.
