Lowndes Pitcher Derrick Carter Among Top Performers in Week 6 of 2026 Georgia High School Baseball Season

Here are our top 10 performers from Week 6 of the 2026 Georgia high school baseball season.

Lowndes pitcher Derrick Carter, a junior, led the Vikings in their doubleheader against Camden County on March 20. In the second game, Carter pitched a one-hit complete game shutout and drove in three runs in an 8-0 win. He also had two hits in the first game of the doubleheader.

Tift County pitcher and first baseman Walker Brannen, a junior, pitched four innings against Colquitt County, allowing just three hits, one run, and one walk while striking out two batters. Brannen also hit a two-out solo home run in Game 2 against the Packers.

Terrell Academy junior Jack Hampson hit four home runs, drove in nine RBIs, and scored eight runs last week for the Eagles in a three-game series against Brookwood.

Dodge County pitcher Kain Mincey, a junior, earned his 100th career strikeout in the Indians’ win over Southwest. He allowed no hits or runs while striking out nine batters over four innings. At the plate, Mincey went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, one stolen base, one RBI, and one home run.

Valdosta pitcher Brooks Carter, a junior, pitched a complete game to lead the Wildcats to a 3-1 win over Camden County. He allowed one unearned run, six hits, and struck out four batters. Carter has now pitched 14 innings in region games without allowing an earned run.

Valdosta catcher Matt Bounds, a senior, batted .571 with two home runs against Richmond Hill while catching all three games of the region series.

Houston County pitcher Tyson Ganas,a junior, pitched 6 ⅓ innings against Thomas County Central, striking out five while allowing just one hit and one run in the Bears’ 3-1 win over the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Christian catcher Colton Hall, a junior, batted .750 last week to lead the Generals’ offensive attack in two wins over three games. He raised his season average to .571 through nine games.

Toombs County catcher Joseph Owens, a junior, went 5-for-11 at the plate with six RBIs, four stolen bases, and four runs scored in the Bulldogs’ three-game series sweep over Savannah Country Day. He batted .455 for the series.

Crisp County pitcher Dawson Coleman, a senior, pitched a complete game win over Cook on March 20 in the second game of a doubleheader, striking out nine batters while allowing just one run. He also drew two walks and scored a run at the plate against the Hornets.
