Tallassee High School Baseball Player Brue Milner Named ITG Next Alabama Male Athlete of the Month for May 2024
Tallassee High School baseball player Brue Milner has been voted the ITG Next Alabama Male Athlete of the Month for May 2024, which stems from his strong performances in April. Milner received 46.98% of the possible votes to receive the honor over three additional finalists, which were St. Paul’s Episcopal baseball player John Stowers, Providence Christian soccer player Layton Hagler, and Evangel Christian baseball player Zac Grossmann.
Milner, a freshman, helped lead Class 5A’s Tallassee, who was recently ranked in our Alabama high school baseball consensus Top 25 rankings, to a combined 12-2 record in April and the Class 5A-Area 4 title.
Across those 14 games, Milner went a combined 18-for-42 offensively, which translated to a .429 batting average at the plate. Milner had at least one hit in 11 of those contests, and he compiled six multi-hit games headlined by a 3-for-5 showing on April 2 in a 20-3 win over Brewbaker Tech in which he had two home runs and eight RBIs.
Milner was also among Alabama’s RBI leaders in April with 35 while also hitting five home runs with four triples. In his 14 games in April, Milner had at least one RBI in 12 games, as well as a stellar five contests with at least four RBIs.
In fact, those numbers were a constant of Milner’s 2024 season at Tallassee. You would be hard pressed to find a player who was a more consistent run producer than Milner this spring.
Helping lead Tallassee to a combined 20-10 record and a quarterfinals appearance in the Class 5A state playoffs, Milner slashed .368/.477/.712 across 28 games for the Tigers. He hit seven home runs with 48 RBIs to rank among the state’s leaders.
Milner also posted an impressive 1.190 on-base percentage plus slugging percentage for the season with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 18-to-12, and he hit a notable nine doubles on the year.
