Ranking the Top 10 Guards in Florida High School Basketball

With the start of the 2023-24 Florida high school basketball season only weeks away, we rank the Top 10 guards in the state, with recruiting rankings according to 247Sports Composite. But first, a few honorable mentions.

Elijah Elliott (Oak Ridge), Kayden Allen (Montverde Academy), Elijah Duval (Martin County), Jalen Reece (Oak Ridge), Chris Arias (Providence), Kameren Wright (The Rock), Bryce Heard (Montverde Academy), Deion Ware (Montverde Academy), Brandon Bass Jr. (Windermere Prep), Trey Murray (Wesley Chapel)

10. Lorenzo Cason (Victory Christian)

We begin our list of the top guards in Florida high school basketball with Cason, a three-star Florida Atlantic commit entering his senior season at Class 2A’s Victory Christian. Cason was one of Florida’s top scorers a year ago, averaging 27.6 PPG to go with 8 RPG, 5.8 APG, and 2.2 SPG.

9. Cole Certa (IMG Academy)

Coming in at No. 9 is Certa, who transferred to IMG Academy during the offseason from Bloomington Central Catholic (IL). Certa is rated as a four-star prospect in the 2024 class, and he is currently committed to Notre Dame.

8. Isaiah Brown (Orlando Christian Prep)

Brown, a four-star Florida commit in the 2024 class, is coming off a junior season in which he averaged 18.6 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 1.9 APG, and 1.3 SPG for the Warriors.

7. Alex Lloyd (Westminster Academy)

Lloyd, who is entering his junior season at Class 3A’s Westminster Academy, is a four-star prospect who averaged 18.5 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 3.2 APG, and 2.1 SPG a year ago for the Lions.

6. Dante Allen (Riviera Prep)

Riviera Prep, the defending Class 3A state champion, lands one player on this list at No. 6. Allen, a four-star prospect, is coming off a sophomore season in which he averaged 21.6 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 3.7 APG, and 2.3 SPG for the Bulldogs.

5. Curtis Givens III (Montverde Academy)

Two programs landed two players apiece within the Top 5 of our list of best guards in Florida high school basketball, the first of which is Montverde Academy at No. 5 with Givens. The four-star LSU commit averaged 4 PPG and 2.2 APG a year ago as a junior, and he is likely to play a larger role in 2023-24.

4. Jase Richardson (Miami Columbus)

Miami Columbus is the second of those two programs that lands two players within the Top-5, with Richardson coming in at No. 4. A highly rated four-star in the 2024 class, Richardson joins the Explorers from Bishop Gorman (NV).

3. Rob Wright (Montverde Academy)

Wright, a four-star Baylor commit, transferred to Montverde Academy during the offseason from Neumann-Goretti (PA), where as a junior he averaged 23.1 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 4.9 APG, and 2.3 SPG.

2. Cayden Boozer (Miami Columbus)

One of the top players for two-time defending Class 7A state champion Miami Columbus, Boozer enters his junior year as a five-star prospect after averaging 15.1 PPG, 5 RPG, 4.3 APG, and 2 SPG for the Explorers in 2022.

1. Darius Acuff Jr. (IMG Academy)

Holding the No. 1 spot among the top guards in Florida high school basketball is Acuff, who is also one of the state’s top offseason transfers, having moved to IMG Academy from Cass Tech (MI). Arguably the nation’s top point guard in the 2025 class, the five-star prospect averaged 21.4 PPG and 5.7 RPG for one of Michigan’s top teams as a sophomore.
