Yurgealitis, Simeon Headline Florida High School Week 2 Top Performances

Following are some of Florida high school football’s top performances in Week 2 of the 2023 season.

QB Jett Yurgealitis (NSU University)

Yurgealitis turned in one of the more impressive performances of Florida high school Week 2, completing 19-of-26 passes for 314 yards and 5 touchdowns in the Sharks’ 58-14 blowout win over Pine Crest. The senior also rushed for 13 yards and a score on 4 attempts.

RB Shawn Simeon (Naples)

The junior rushed for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns on 18 attempts in Naples’ 36-19 win over Dillard.

QB Jack Niemann (Cypress Creek)

Niemann completed 12-of-18 passes for 298 yards and 3 touchdowns, and he also rushed for 12 yards in Cypress Creek’s 52-0 shutout of Sunlake.

QB Joshua Townsend (Homestead)

Townsend completed 8-of-15 passes for 167 yards and 4 touchdowns in Homestead’s 35-0 win over South Dade. The senior also rushed for 95 yards on 6 attempts.

QB Nathan Tidwell (Seven Rivers Christian)

The senior enjoyed a big day on the ground in the Warriors’ 35-32 loss to All Saints’ Academy, rushing for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns on 27 attempts. Tidwell also completed 6-of-9 attempts for 78 yards and a touchdown.

RB Rolando Perez (Somerset Academy South Homestead)

Perez rushed for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns on 14 attempts, while also catching a pass for 6 yards, in the Hurricanes’ 21-14 loss to St. Brendan.

WR Eric Fletcher (Dunbar)

The East Carolina commit had 5 receptions for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns in Dunbar’s 40-14 win over North Fort Myers.

WR Keyshawn Cone (Miami)

Cone totaled 7 receptions for 54 yards and 2 touchdowns, and he also ran for a 3-yard score in Miami’s 44-0 win over Miami Beach.

LB Brogan Coleman (Osceola-Seminole)

Coleman had 14 tackles and 4 TFL in Osceola’s 49-0 shutout win over Dunedin.

LB Tyrel Snelling (Miami)

We conclude our list of top Florida high school Week 2 performances with Snelling, who did a bit of everything defensively for Miami in its 44-0 shutout win over Miami Beach: 8 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 1 INT, and a fumble recovery.
