After a stellar start to her junior season, Melbourne softball player Jasmine “Jazzy” Francik has been voted the ITG Next Florida Female Athlete of the Month for April 2023, which comes as a result of her on-field play during March. Francik, a Florida State commit, received 45.66% of the possible votes alongside a group of three additional finalists.
The Lady Bulldogs went 11-1 in March, with Francik, a two-way standout, a big reason for their success. In the circle, she made 11 appearances, allowing only one unearned run in 80.2 IP with a 189:14 K:BB ratio. Francik recorded double-digit strikeouts in nine of those appearances, and she allowed no hits in five outings.
Francik also made a big impact at the plate, batting.382 AVG (13-for-34) with 8 RBI. She had five multi-hit games in March, including a season-best 3-for-4 showing in a 5-0 win over University.
Francik’s March numbers are indicative of her season overall for the Melbourne softball team, as her impact has only continued to grow, especially in the circle. As of Saturday, April 22, Francik owned a 16-2 record with an eye-opening 0.14 ERA and a 362:30 K:BB ratio in 155 IP. With opponents hitting for a .069 AVG against, Francik has allowed only three earned runs all year, with her season resume full of phenomenal performances.
A closer look reveals all but three of Francik’s starts have included double-digit strikeouts. She has four starts of 20+ punchouts, as well as two of 30+, which came in extra-inning games against Spruce Creek and Doral Academy.
Offensively, Francik has also impressed, slashing .312/.450/.453 with a .903 OPS. She has 10 RBI for the season, along with a home run, 2 doubles and 2 triples.
Congratulations again to Melbourne softball player Jasmine Francik, the ITG Next Florida April 2023 Female Athlete of the Month.
