Top Returning Safeties in the Country: Kamari Wilson and More

Top Returning Safeties in the Country

One of the more important positions in football is a versatile safety. You need someone who is not only a leader on the field, but someone who can drop into coverage and also make tackles at the line of scrimmage. High school football is losing some phenomenal safeties (James Williams, Sage Ryan, and Terrion Arnold, most notably), but the top returning safeties in the country for 2021 are sure to put on a show.

This group is headlined by 2022 five-stars Kamari Wilson and Jacoby Mathews, each of whom are both rated among the top 35 players nationally. Wilson, however, sets himself apart as the No. 1 safety as he shined on defense for national powerhouse IMG Academy while also being named to the MaxPreps Junior All-American Second-Team.

Eight of the 10 players on this list will be seniors next year; the two exceptions are Rahmir Stewart and Caleb Downs, who will both be juniors.
