Prattville Moves within Class 7A
Prattville, a member of Class 7A-Region 2 in recent years, makes one of the most notable moves within the classification. The Lions will play in Class 7A-Region 3 next fall, and they’ll be joined by teams from the Birmingham and Tuscaloosa areas.
Carver-Montgomery, Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa Move Up to 7A
Two of the most notable teams to move up in the 2024-25 AHSAA reclassification made the jump from Class 6A to 7A: Carver-Montgomery and Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa join a loaded 7A-Region 2 and 7A-Region 3, respectively. Both the Wolverines and the Patriots made the 6A playoffs this fall, and Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa reached the state quarterfinals.
Spain Park Moves Down to Class 6A
Alongside Chelsea and Percy Julian, perhaps the state’s most notable team to drop a classification was Spain Park, which went from Class 7A-Region 3 to Class 6A-Region 3. Spain Park, a 7A member for more than a decade, is coming off a 7-3 season.
Hatton Jumps from 2A to 4A
One of the biggest movers is Hatton, which leapfrogs from Class 2A-Region 8 to Class 4A-Region 7. The Hornets are coming off a season in which they finished 7-4 to reached the first round of the 2A state playoffs.
