5 Florida High School Football Recruits to Watch Entering National Signing Day

National signing day player

With National Signing Day set for this Wednesday, Feb. 2, the attention from both the high school and collegiate sports world across the country will be on the uncommitted prospects remaining from the Class of 2022. While there are still a few notable five-stars remaining in that group that will be making decisions this week on where they will play next season, Florida High School Football in particular also has a few notable names as well, including arguably the top player overall.

So, as we enter the week, here are five recruits from Florida High School Football to watch entering National Signing Day.

Shemar Stewart

You could certainly make the argument that Stewart is the top recruit overall nationally to watch entering National Signing Day. A five-star defensive lineman from Monsignor Pace, Stewart is considered as a top 10 prospect nationally, as well as the No. 1 player in the state of Florida coming off a season in which he recorded 13 sacks for the Spartans. Stewart will be announcing on Wednesday between a final three of Georgia, Miami, and Texas A&M.

Terrance Gibbs

One of the top running backs in high school football during the 2021 season, Gibbs is easily the top offensive name to watch. A four-star recruit, the Winter Park standout is a former Florida commit who has interest from multiple schools as one of the top uncommitted running backs remaining. The Gators likely remain still in the running for Gibbs, as well as Texas.

Jack Pyburn

The three-star Bolles defensive lineman was a long-time Minnesota commit, but decommitted from the Golden Gophers earlier this month. Becoming one of the top uncommitted recruits in the state in the process, Pyburn is also coming off a phenomenal senior season in which he amassed 109 tackles, 14 sacks, and an impressive 32 TFL. Announcing on Tuesday, Feb. 1, Pyburn will likely land with either Auburn, Florida, or Miami.

Jamarrien Burt

One of the top athletes in the state, Burt is another former Florida commit who decommitted from the Gators back in November. The three-star Forest standout is now a name to watch entering this week due to his versatility on the field, something that will only benefit him at the next level. As for which teams to watch for with Burt, both Oklahoma and Utah appear as the favorites entering the week.

JyVonte McClendon

The final big name to watch for this week is McClendon, a three-star safety from the talented Lake Gibson secondary. A former South Carolina commit, the Gamecocks are still a team to watch for the 6-foot-2 defensive back, as well as a few others. One of the top safeties still uncommitted, McClendon could be a sought after prospect over the coming weeks if he remains uncommitted post signing day.
