4 Questions with Niceville Football Coach Grant Thompson
We spoke with Niceville head football coach Grant Thompson about his previous time in coaching, top recruit and Eagles two-way player Azareye’h Thomas, and what he is looking forward to most in the 2021 Florida high school football playoffs.
Q: How many seasons have you been the coach at Niceville, as well as coaching overall?
A: Three seasons at Niceville – 15 Seasons coaching
Q: One of the top overall players in the state is Azareye’h Thomas, a player who does a bit of everything for your team. What have you seen from him that makes him so impactful on the field?
A: Azareye’h is smart and versatile. He has been playing since he was a freshman and is a true student of the game. His older brothers play and he studies the greats of the NFL. He can do so much for us. He covers the other team’s best player and we move him all around on offense.
Q: Who are some players that you have seen take a noticeable jump so far this season?
A: Jayden Shepard, Khalil Jacobs, Joe Hanson, and Austin Firestone
Q: What are you looking forward to most with this Eagles team in this season’s playoffs?
A: I am looking forward to competing with this team and seeing what they can accomplish through hard work. They are very close as a team and pull for one another, which makes it very fun to coach them.
