Updated 12/2/2024

The Jefferson Dragons take the top spot in our updated 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 3A. They can now imagine what a state title looks like with two more wins.

Peach County Trojans fans were hoping that head coach Maurice Westbrook would deliver an early Christmas present to Fort Valley, Georgia, with a trip to the state championship game, just as he had done with Warner Robins four times, resulting in two state titles. The Trojans will have to wait until next year, however, as Calhoun defeated Peach County 38-28 to end any state title hopes.

Preseason – Updated 8/12/2024

The 2024 Georgia high school football season is finally here, and you will notice that ITG Next’s weekly rankings have a new look. This year we will rank the Top 10 teams in each classification with a total of eight rankings. This includes a separate Top 10 ranking of the “private only” teams in Class 1A-DI, Class 2A, and Class 3A. Here is a look at our updated 2024 Georgia high school football preseason rankings for Class 3A in the new format.

Can Cedar Grove withstand the loss of several of top playmakers in 2024? Despite not having running back Bo Walker, the Saints and new head coach Rod Moore should still take the field with enough talent to defend their state title

Speaking of teams losing top players, one of the best all-around athletes has moved on in former Jefferson two-way standout Sammy Brown, who is now at Clemson. Still, the Dragons are stout enough to earn the No. 1 spot in our Class 3A preseason poll.

A team to keep your eye on is head coach Ben Hall’s Oconee County Warriors, who return eight offensive starters and nine defensive starters from last year.

  1. Jefferson (+1)
  2. Sandy Creek (+2)
  3. Calhoun (+4)
  4. Oconee County (+1)
  5. Cedar Grove (-2)
  6. Spalding
  7. Mary Persons (+2)
  8. Monroe Area
  9. LaGrange (NR)
  10. Lumpkin County (NR)
