The Toombs County Bulldogs are enjoying the school’s first state title after their 38-18 victory over the Northeast Raiders. The Bulldogs end the season as the No. 1 team in our final 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I.

Toombs County got everyone’s attention in Week 3 of the regular season when they travelled to Barron Stadium and defeated the Class 5A Rome Wolves. It turned out to be their closest game of the year, a 33-29 win.

The Northeast Raiders leapfrog the Dublin Fighting Irish to take over the No. 2 spot in our 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I. 

The Toombs County Bulldogs will be looking for their first ever football state championship as they play Northeast for the Class 1A-Division I title on Dec. 17.

Every team in our 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I won their opening-round playoff game last week, keeping our Top 10 intact. 

The Worth County Rams are especially red-hot as they won their Round 1 playoff game against Coosa 54-14.

Toombs County heads into the postseason as the top team in our 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I.

The Worth County Rams under head coach Jeff Hammond won their region last week with a 49-0 shutout victory over Brantley County. The 7-3 Rams now prepare for their home playoff game against Coosa this week.

Despite falling to Savannah Christian last week, Toombs County remains atop this week’s 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I. 

The rest of our Top 10 teams also retain their rankings from last week.

The Dodge County Indians saw their undefeated season come to an end with a 40-19 loss to Northeast last week. The loss sent Dodge County tumbling in our 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I, falling seven spots all the way to No. 10. Now, the Indians must regroup as No. 2 Dublin awaits them this week. 

No. 1 Toombs County will battle Savannah Christian, the No. 1 team in our Class 1A-3A Private rankings, this week in one of the state’s must-see games.

It was a clean sweep last week as each team in our 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I came away victorious across the board. 

That includes our Top 3 teams, Toombs County, Dublin, and Dodge County, who are collectively 22-0 and all undefeated. Toombs County is 6-0, and Dublin and Dodge County are each at 8-0.

The Thomasville Bulldogs rebounded from their 1-point loss to Worth County two weeks ago with an impressive 23-8 road victory over the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane. With their win over Fitzgerald, Thomasville climbs back into the Top 5 of our 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I, leaping up four spots to No. 4. 

Heard County debuts this week at No. 10.

Perhaps the state’s biggest upset last week shakes up this week’s 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I. Thomasville falls five spots to No. 8 after head coach Jeff Hammonds’ Worth County squad got a last-second field goal to upset the Bulldogs. With the win, Worth County moves into the Top 10, coming in at No. 7. 

Dodge County and Fitzgerald each move up a spot.

Our updated 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I sees Jeff Davis fall out of the Top 10 with their second straight loss of the season, a 31-7 loss against No. 3 ranked Thomasville. 

Commerce moves into the rankings to occupy the vacated spot, making their debut at No. 10 this week.

Several of the teams in our 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I are hitting their strides with impressive wins again last week. 

Top-ranked Toombs County shut out Hamilton County (Florida) 61-0 to stay unbeaten. 

Fannin County improved to 5-0 with their second straight shutout win. The Rebels have now scored over 40 points in all but one of those five wins.

Dublin scored a 56-0 shutout win over Jefferson County. Next week the Fighting Irish will play Northeast, who also had a shutout win last week. 

Jeff Davis and Lamar County lost their games but remain in the Top 10.

There’s no movement within our 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I this week, with half of the teams off this week and the other half winning. 

Fitzgerald picked up the most impressive victory of the week with a 23-13 road win at Brooks County.

Toombs County may have had the biggest upset of the young season with a 33-29 win over Class 5A’s Rome last week. That was enough to lift the Bulldogs into the top spot of our 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I for the first time this season. 

Toombs County takes over the No. 1 ranking from another Bulldogs program, as Thomasville acquired their first loss of the season to crosstown rival Thomas County Central 48-10.

Northeast and Rabun County, who were ranked in our preseason poll before falling out, find their way back into the Top 10. They replace Worth County and Swainsboro, who both lost last week.

Thomasville remains the No. 1 team in our updated 2024 Georgia high school football rankings for Class 1A-Division I after surviving a scare from Highway 84 rival Cairo last week. Their game was tied 28-28 before the Bulldogs pulled out a late victory. 

That sets up a showdown with yet another battle of neighbors as Thomas County Central visits Thomasville this week. This Rose City rivalry will be our ITG Next Game of the Week. 

The rest of our Top 10 teams won their Week 3 games and retain their positions from last week’s rankings.

Week 2 of the 2024 Georgia high school football season was a rough one for half the teams in our Top 10 rankings for Class 1A-Division I, with five ranked teams falling.

This opened the door for three new teams this week, as Dodge County, Jeff Davis, and Fannin County all find themselves ranked for the first time in 2024. 

Despite falling last week, Worth County and Swainsboro hang on to remain part of this week’s Top 10. 

Fitzgerald was off last week and remains in the No. 10 spot.

It was a wild season-opening week as five of our top-ranked teams across all classifications lost their first game, but don’t think this will be the only time that happens. This could be one of those seasons that sees a different No. 1 each week. Here’s a look at our updated Top 10 team rankings for Class 1A-Division I after Week 1 of the 2024 Georgia high school football season.

The Thomasville Bulldogs of head coach Johnathan DeLay slide into this week’s top spot following last week’s impressive win over Brooks County and the losses of last week’s two top-ranked teams. Swainsboro and Commerce, who were previously ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, each lost by 20 points, opening the door for the Bulldogs. 

Lamar County debuts at No. 9, and Fitzgerald remains ranked despite their loss to rival Irwin County.

The 2024 Georgia high school football season is finally here, and you will notice that ITG Next’s weekly rankings have a new look. This year we will rank the Top 10 teams in each classification with a total of eight rankings. This includes a separate Top 10 ranking of the “private only” teams in Class 1A-DI, Class 2A, and Class 3A. Here is a look at our updated 2024 Georgia high school football preseason rankings for Class 1A-Division I in the new format.

Worth County returns nine starters on offense this season, including quarterback Lyndon Worthy and receiver D’ontae Fulton. With all four starting linebackers back on defense, the Rams could be moving up the ranks pretty quickly from their No. 5 spot. 

The Swainsboro Tigers start off as our top team. They’ve been knocking on the door of a state title with two appearances in the championship game over the last three seasons, including last year’s loss against Prince Avenue Christian
