Composite Poll: Top 25 Alabama High School Football Teams in Classes 1A, 2A, 3A, AISA

Updated 12/9/2024 – Final

This is our final update of the Class 1A-3A and AISA Top 25 rankings this season as a result of the 2024 Alabama high school football campaign having now officially come to a close. 

In the No. 1 spot to end the season is Class 2A state champion Reeltown, the first of five state title winners who are ranked. The remaining ranked state champions are Mars Hill Bible (No. 2) in Class 3A, Wadley (No. 4) in Class 1A, Chambers (No. 13) in AISA Class 3A, and South Choctaw (No. 21) in AISA Class 2A.

Our updated 2024 Alabama high school football rankings see a lot of movement within the Top 15 as the season enters its final week of the year.

The AHSAA Super Seven will take place in the coming days. With three champions to be crowned from Classes 1A-3A, here are the matchups for each classification this week: No. 2 Mars Hill Bible vs. No. 6 Houston Academy in Class 3A, No. 1 Reeltown vs. No. 5 Tuscaloosa Academy in Class 2A, and No. 4 Wadley vs. No. 7 Maplesville in Class 1A.

While the AHSAA state playoffs enter the semifinal round this week, the AISA playoffs have come to an end with two teams in our latest Top 25 now officially crowned as state champions. No. 12 Chambers and No. 21 South Choctaw are the now the AISA Class 3A and Class 2A state champions, respectively.

Three new teams enter the Top 25, headlined by Class 3A’s Southside (Selma) at No. 17. Class 1A’s Maplesville enters at No. 22, and Class 2A’s Sulligent enters at No. 23.

The second round of the Alabama high school football playoffs has now come and gone, and a total of three new teams enter the Top 25 rankings for Classes 1A-3A after this past week’s action. Included in this group are Bayside Academy, Maplesville, and AISA Class 2A’s South Choctaw, who will play for a state championship in the classification this week.

The latest update of our Alabama high school football rankings for Classes 1A-3A features some movement after the playoffs officially began in both the AHSAA and AISA this past week. 

The biggest upset of the week was Glenwood falling to Alabama Christian by a final score of 46-42.

One new team enters the Top 25 in Class 2A’s Winston County. The Yellowjackets are currently undefeated at 11-0 overall and now sit at No. 25.

Our Top 25 rankings for Alabama high school football Classes 1A-3A receives its final update of the regular season prior to the playoffs beginning.

This week’s update does not see any new teams enter the Top 25 and sees very little movement outside of the Top 15. 

However, a few teams did see some noteworthy rises, such as Reeltown and Thomasville each jumping two spots within the Top 5.

The latest update of our Alabama high school football rankings for Classes 1A-3A sees a notable amount of movement across the Top 25, headlined by a significant drop from Trinity Presbyterian down six spots to No. 20. 

One new team also enters the Top 25 this week in the Goshen Eagles, who are 7-2 on the year.

There was simply not a major amount of movement in this week’s Alabama high school football rankings for Classes 1A-3A, as only one team from the Top 25 lost last Friday night. As a result of Tuscaloosa Academy’s 46-44 loss at Sulligent, the Knights drop six spots down to No. 13.

Our updated Alabama high school football Top 25 rankings do not see much movement at all, as a majority of the ranked teams won their respective matchups last week. 

The only notable takeaway is Class 3A’s Hillcrest (Evergreen) re-entering the rankings at No. 25. Hillcrest currently owns a 6-2 record for the year and is coming off a 40-14 road win at Monroe County.

A total of three teams enter our 2024 Alabama high school football Top 25 rankings for Classes 1A-3A this week in Bayside Academy, Chambers, and Winfield, who sit at No. 23, No. 24, and No. 25, respectively. 

The highest ranked of that group is Class 3A’s Bayside Academy at No. 23, who is at 5-1 for the year. Chambers, the first AISA team to be ranked this season, owns a 6-1 overall record, while Winfield also holds that same mark.

Coming off a week where games were affected by Hurricane Helene, here is the most recent update of our 2024 Alabama high school football Top 25 rankings for Classes 1A-3A.

Class 2A’s Coosa Christian is the biggest mover of the week, as the Conquerors jump up 12 spots to No. 11 after an impressive 29-2 victory over Fyffe. 

Class 2A’s Vincent makes an appearance in the rankings at No. 25 with an undefeated 5-0 record.

Three new teams enter the Top 25 of our 2024 Alabama high school football Class 1A-3A rankings entering Week 6 in Coosa Christian, Montgomery Academy, and Georgiana, ranked at No. 23, No. 24, and No. 25, respectively. 

Class 2A’s Coosa Christian sits at 4-1 overall for the year and is currently riding a four-game winning streak that features wins over Pell City, Southeastern, Falkville, and Susan Moore.

Only two teams from the Top 25 lost last Friday night. Those teams were Class 3A’s Geraldine and Gordo, both of which dropped significantly.

A pair of new teams enter the rankings this week in Class 3A’s Hillcrest-Evergreen and Piedmont, who sit at No. 24 and No. 25, respectively. After three weeks, both the Jaguars and Bulldogs are undefeated at 3-0 overall.

Two Class 3A teams headline our 2024 Alabama high school football 1A-3A rankings this week. 

Glenwood was the biggest riser of the week, jumping 12 spots up to No. 12 after an impressive 49-22 road win at Elba. 

The Lee-Scott Warriors make their debut in the rankings, as they sit undefeated at 2-0 overall with victories over both Excel and Loachapoka so far this season.

After a loaded slate in Week 1 that featured several upsets across the state, three teams enter our Alabama high school football Top 25 rankings for Classes 1A-3A in the Wadley Bulldogs, Glenwood Gators, and Goshen Eagles. 

The highest-ranked of the group, Wadley, sits at No. 21 this week after an impressive 34-6 win over previous No. 12 B.B. Comer

Glenwood also picked up a significant result this past Friday night. Glenwood sits at No. 24 after their 21-20 victory over Class 5A’s Valley, which was the Gators’ first contest as a member of the AHSAA

Preseason – Updated 8/19/2024

With the start of the 2024 Alabama high school football season having now arrived, we here at ITG Next release our preseason Top 25 rankings for Classes 1A-3A, which combine both the AHSAA and AISA. This ranking will be updated weekly throughout the 2024 season.  

Carrying the No. 1 ranking entering the year are the Fyffe Red Devils, who make the move up to Class 3A after going 14-1 overall a year ago to win the Class 2A state title. The Red Devils will be led by one of the state’s top athletes in two-way star Logan Anderson and should be among the favorites in their new classification.
