Central-Phenix City and Thompson will meet in the 7A title game for the fourth time since 2018, with the Warriors holding a 2-1 advantage in that span. This year’s meeting sees an undefeated Central-Phenix City (12-0), led by an offense that averages 44.6 PPG, poised to stop a potential five-peat for Thompson (11-1).
Prediction: Central-Phenix City Red Devils 33, Thompson Warriors 28
Class 6A
Another 2023 Alabama Super 7 battle of the state’s elite comes in 6A, where the defending state champion Saraland Spartans (14-0) face their toughest test yet against the Clay-Chalkville Cougars (13-0). Prediction: Gulf Shores Dolphins 27, Ramsay Rams 30
Class 4A
A new state champion will be decided this week in 4A, where Montgomery Catholic (14-0) meets Cherokee County (13-1). The latter finished the 2022 season as the 4S state runner-up.
