Ahead of a weekend that will determine the Super 7 playoff matchups, here are our predictions for the 2023 Alabama high school semifinal round. (Note: The Class 7A semifinals took place last week, so only Classes 1A-6A are addressed below.)
Class 6A
The 2023 Alabama high school Class 6A semifinal round is headlined by a showdown between Parker and Clay-Chalkville, which is a rematch from the 2022 first round, when the Thundering Herd upset the Cougars 7-6. In the other bracket, defending state champion Saraland puts its undefeated record on the line against Pike Road.

Class 5A
Class 5A sees undefeated Gulf Shores battle with Eufaula, while Ramsay, the defending state champion, takes on Guntersville. Both the Rams and Wildcats have 11 wins for the season.

Class 4A
Class 4A features our first rematch from earlier this season – Montgomery Catholic defeated Booker T. Washington at home by a final score of 56-6 on September 8. The other game is a compelling matchup between Westminster Christian and Cherokee County.

Class 3A
The 2023 Alabama high school 3A semifinal slate is again one of the more intriguing of the week. It’s headlined by defending state champion Saint James’ contest with undefeated Mobile Christian. On the other side, Geraldine vs. Madison Academy also could be close.

Class 2A
Class 2A’s slate is certainly one to watch, as it’s headlined by a massive showdown of unbeatens: B.B. Comer vs. Reeltown. The other game is another rematch from earlier this year: Fyffe defeated Pisgah 56-42 on October 20.

Class 1A
Undoubtedly the biggest matchup is between a pair of unbeatens as Leroy faces off against Elba. The other side of the bracket features Coosa Christian against Pickens County.
