With each passing year, high school football players around the nation never seem to regress in talent and production. As a result, fans are treated to a continuous loop of record-breaking campaigns and impressive performances on both sides of the ball. Here are just a few of the several stat sheet stuffing outings that high school football players around the nation produced:
Devin Brown opens the season with a bang – The future Ohio State Buckeye opened his senior campaign with Corner Canyon (UT) passing for 459 yards and a whopping eight touchdowns on 81.8% completion. The score of the game against Farmington was 65-14…at halftime.

Rosa runs away on standout night: Running back Victor Rosa of Bristol Central (CT) rushed for 406 yards and eight touchdowns in a single game against Tolland. He averaged just over 16 yards a carry and scored 50 of his team’s 68 points that night.

A nightmare to deal with: Edrin Johnson of Carver Collegiate (LA) racked up eight sacks in a 15-13 win over Landry-Walker. He didn’t stop there, recovering two fumbles, compiling nine tackles for loss, and hurrying the opposing quarterback six times. Any chance his team wins that game without his impressive performance?
Wade(ing) through opposing offenses: Four interceptions and nine tackles in a single game? That’s too easy for safety Wade Jones of Tippecanoe Valley in Indiana. To top that performance off, Jones scored a 31-yard touchdown that put any chance of a Garrett comeback out of reach.
Taking “go-to target” to a new level: Gabriel Nunez (Beaumont, CA) caught for 250 yards on 25 catches in a loss to Citrus Valley. Yes, you read that right: 25 receptions. Nunez and teammate Anson Kraut were the targets of 35 of quarterback Christopher Cooper’s 39 passes.
Big day for another big-time receiver: Jacob Scott (Mooreville, MS) had no problem reeling in 16 catches. In fact, he did that and scored four touchdowns while receiving for exactly 300 yards. Over half of Mooreville’s passes went Scott’s way, which is likely why they defeated Corinth, 42-21.

Kickers deserve love, too: Highland’s (ID) Ian Hershey booted nine kicks through the uprights in a blowout win last September. He went 4-for-4 on field goals (with a long of 49 yards) and knocked in all five extra points. Hershey also sent nine of his 10 kickoffs through the endzone for a touchback and rocketed a 54-yards punt, his longest of the season.
A scoring machine: This list would not be complete without at least one mention of Wallace-Rose Hill (NC) running back Kanye Roberts. Roberts led the nation in rushing yards and total touchdowns last season, easily bypassing second place by over 150 yards and 15 scores respectively. Out of all his impressive performances, his best may have come against Kinston, where he rushed for 269 yards and seven touchdowns. In that same game, he also caught a 49-yard touchdown pass, made three tackles defensively, and returned a kickoff for 20 yards. He accounted for 48 of his team’s 62 points.
