It is not uncommon in athletics for defeat to fuel the fire for eventual victory. In March, the Lady Eagles of Marion County High School used the devastation of last year’s loss in the state championship game to stay focused on not repeating history. The girls basketball team, under the coaching of Fran McPherson, won the GHSA Class 1A Public title. Calhoun County lost to the Lady Eagles 50-38. ITG Next asked coach McPherson 10 questions about the school’s first ever state title in girls basketball.
